A Heavenly Spot

I knew it would be a beautiful place for these sweet little babes that didn’t make it far in the womb but I had no idea it would be as peaceful and beautiful as it was.  We drove to the little home of “Angel Baby” and the boys hurriedly showed us which marker he was.  It was a sweet moment – not that the boys really understood the concept of it all but they still felt the loss deep inside.   There was shade and the trees blew cool air on a hot sweltering day.  It was peaceful for me – a calm and safe healing spot.

My Country Store

Back to White Sparrow to check out their inventory of country decor.  I didn’t see much – well I did – but it wouldn’t fit in my suitcase.  We promised the kids an ice cream cone and we all indulged.  I caught myself choosing a flavor that was always my Dad’s favorite – Rocky Road.  Rocky Road ice cream is creamy chocolate and almond-flavored ice cream loaded with chewy marshmallows, crunchy almonds, and flecks of chocolate.  I love an ice cream that has chunks of stuff in it and maybe I just wanted a little of my Dad today.  It is just our thing-Rocky Road ice cream.

Give Me a Diet Starry Please

We hit up Freddy’s today for lunch in Rexburg.  Freddy’s is a new place we hadn’t eaten at so it was a nice surprise.  I was especially tickled to see they served Starry’s as one of their fountain soda choices.  Our whole trip I couldn’t find a non-caffeinated soda that was diet except for Frescas at the local Maverik.  As I approached a little further I was deflated to learn that they don’t have sugar free in a Starry.    Well Freddy’s served good food so that will just have to work for today.   Hey is that Blaze in those fries??

St. Anthony Soccer

Finally we get to actually see Dash and Maverick play in their soccer games.  Dash, the team socialite, actually kicked in and performed very well in his game.  He was focused and ran hard.  He even scored a goal which fueled his fire – at one point he stood by his coach prompting her to put him back in a few moments later.  Maverick is a whole different story.  He is focused, driven, athletic, skilled and very very dedicated.  He runs that field with a mighty force and the kid works so very hard.  He was a dream to watch.  Granddaddy barely survived the two games.  Yeah he is the guy in the chair with the umbrella.  The heat wore him out!

The Big Wheel Rides On

Dear Schylling, Inc.,

We purchased a Big Wheel for our grandson about eight or nine years ago.  At the time his Dad was a student at a university and his mom ran a small jewelry business out of her home to make some additional money.  Blaze would ride his Big Wheel all around the apartment complex – his legs were short and weak at the time but he grew well into that bike and rode to his heart’s content.  Then came along another brother Maverick and he continued to ride – then came Dash and the tradition rides on today.  Dash rode the Big Wheel on our walk today and that was when we saw the many miles of riding and the wear and tear of their Big Wheel.  The wheel is worn, cracked and bent but hey – she rides like a beaut -well sort of.  The front wheel now flops around and around because it is now an oval – not a circle.  Thank you for making a bike that has lasted and lasted.  Just wanted you to know.

A loving consumer.

A Dad Day

Dad had lost a lot of weight, he was still in bed, our conversations were short, the meds make him so sleepy, he downed a Pepsi, he knew who I was – yeah!!, he was very shaky to walk, the family came for dinner, Dad ate a good meal, Scott is an amazing brother to do what he does to care for them both, it was good to see Dad and get a feel for how he is doing, no answers as to if he will improve, we kissed goodbye and told each other we loved each other.  Hang on till the end of July Dad – I’ll be back.

Alaska Lovers

This is so true.  I have family and friends ask me about our daylight hours all the time and after an hour of befuddled jargon I sound like a crazy woman.   Do I really understand it all myself??  Absolutely not.  The next time I’m asked I’ll just send on this little photo and say that I love the long summer nights and love the dark cold winters and call it good.  I love where I live and you should join us for our summer solstice because I will guarantee you daylight no matter where we live up here in Alaska.

Their Own Little Reunion

The annual or every two year “Williams and Styers”  reunion took place today in Logan, Utah.  The Williams family travelled to their destination in Logan and enjoyed In-N-Out for lunch with an afternoon of hot summer water activities to follow.   The Williams drove home ecstatic that they had so much fun with their Alaska cousins.  The next reunion will be in St. Anthony and the Styers family will be travelling this time – have you guys thought of doing t-shirts for the next reunion?

Dr. Callahan

There are graduates and there are graduates.  What is so expressively adorable about this photo is that Callahan looks so expressively adorable.  I think when he graduates from high school there should be a comparison of his two photos-kindergarten and high school.  Perhaps we will want his medical school photo in there too because when you look at that photo again he could be a young neurosurgeon.  You go Cal!.  Your kindergarten year is the base for all that is to come.

Those Pink Cleats

Look at this girl.  She is our little micro preemie weighing in at 1 lb 10 ounce and today she is playing soccer – her first organized sport.  What an amazing ride it has been for Gwendolyn.  She has surpassed and excelled all expectations and goals that have been placed before her.  I attribute so much of successes to her parents who have been instrumental in being so “hands on”, so diligent in her receiving the best medical care and for showing Gwendolyn that she can do whatever she desires to do.  There are no limitations to her achievements.
